The studies are focused on biodiversity and its conservation in close relations to landscape ecology, agroecology, urban ecology, and forest ecology. Graduates of the Master´s programme of Ecology and Biodiversity Protection are experts on biodiversity, nature, landscape, and ecosystem protection, conservation of protected areas, the sustainable development of biosphere reserves, national parks and protected landscape areas. They can creatively apply scientific knowledge, solve conflicts between man and nature and verify working hypotheses related to the ecological stability of ecosystems in changing ecological and social conditions. The graduates are involved in the management of nature and landscape conservation, scientific and research institutions, international cooperation of protected areas and universities, they solve the problems related to directing the human activities in protected areas and active protection of endangered, protected and rare taxa of organisms, their populations and ecosystems. They coordinate the activities of non-governmental organizations in protected areas and also provide the private landowners in protected areas with expert advisory service, and coordinate active care for natural heritage.
The study program (exercises and lectures) is taught only in the Slovak language.
